Award for Distinguished Service
to the Illinois Section of the MAA
The award for Distinguished Service to the Illinois Section of the Mathematical
Association of America to be given each year at the Annual Meeting to a friend
and supporter of the Section and its programs. The recipient must have been a
member of the MAA residing in Illinois for at least ten years. Longevity alone
will not qualify a person for the Distinguished Service Award. The recipient
must have served as the chair of a standing committee or as an officer of the
Section. The persons selected for the Distinguished Service Award shall be
characterized as those who have made the Illinois Section better able to fulfill
its purpose -- improving education in the mathematical sciences at the
collegiate level.
