The Committee on Teacher Education

The responsibilities of the Committee on Teacher Education are

1. to keep ISMAA members informed of all current and pending requirements in K-12 mathematics for teacher certification in Illinois.
2. to inform ISMAA members of recommendations and reports from professional groups such as ICTM, NCTM, and MAA that deal with teacher preparation.
3. to share both the problems and positive steps taken by colleges and universities concerning the issues of teacher preparations and school mathematics.
4. to serve as a resource for questions from ISMAA members on issues of certification and teacher preparation.
5. to present to ISMAA members recommendations on teacher preparation and curricular changes.

The composition of the Committee on Teacher Education is specified in Article VI Section 6 of the ISMAA Bylaws.
